Release Date, Time for Starfield Shattered Space
The release date for Starfield: Shattered Space has been confirmed for September 30, 2024. Bethesda announced this during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event. In an earlier interview in April 2024, director Todd Howard had mentioned that the expansion would release in the fall, a timeline Bethesda has adhered to.
Shattered Space will launch at different times around the world, starting at 4 PM BST on September 30, 2024, in London. Release times for major cities include 11 AM EDT in New York, 8 AM PDT in Los Angeles, and 3 AM NZDT in Auckland on October 1, 2024.
Preload and File Size
Currently, Shattered Space cannot be preloaded. However, players can pre-purchase the DLC. The file size for the expansion is not clear, with some platforms listing it as 17.01 MB, which is likely incorrect, while Steam recommends having 125 GB of free space, the same size as the base game.
Price of Starfield Shattered Space
Players who bought the Digital Premium Edition of Starfield for $99.99 will receive access to the expansion automatically. For others, Shattered Space will be available for $29.99 as a separate purchase.
New Features and Locations
Shattered Space introduces new areas and enemies for players to encounter. In a post celebrating the first anniversary of Starfield, Bethesda revealed that over 50 new locations will be accessible on the Va’ruun’kai planet.
A deep dive into the expansion revealed Dazra City, a new location where players can explore areas taken over by factions like the Crimson Fleet and Spacers. New enemies such as the Redeemed and Vortex Horrors, creatures that originate from a tear in reality, will also be introduced.
Weapons
Developers have enhanced close-quarters combat for Shattered Space, promising more aggressive action. Players will also be able to craft new types of grenades using organic materials collected during gameplay. Although details about these grenades are limited, Bethesda hinted that they might be similar to those found in the game Death Stranding.
Storyline of Starfield Shattered Space
The storyline of Shattered Space centers around House Va’Ruun, a religious faction that worships the Great Serpent. Players will investigate a cosmic threat in the hidden city of Dazra on the Va’ruun’kai planet. The expansion begins with players responding to a distress signal from a star station, which leads them to uncover the secrets of House Va’Ruun.
New weapons, spacesuits, and other gear will also be part of the expansion. Shattered Space introduces a horror-infused mystery, expanding on Starfield’s base story by exploring the dangers of forbidden scientific experiments.
