Nothing Phone 2a: Rumored Specs, Price and Release Timeline

Nothing Phone 2a, the forthcoming budget smartphone from Carl Pei’s startup, is expected to launch in early 2024. Despite maintaining the distinct design of its predecessors, the Phone 2a promises improved specifications at an affordable price. Here’s a breakdown of everything currently known about this upcoming device.

Expected Release Timeline

Official details regarding the Nothing Phone 2a’s release remain undisclosed. However, leaks suggest a potential launch during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona, scheduled from February 26 to February 29. Leaker Yogesh Brar indicates that the smartphone might make its debut during this period.

Estimated Price and Availability

Positioned as a more budget-friendly alternative to the Phone 2, the device is speculated to be priced around $400. This competitive pricing could position it as a strong contender against smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy A54. Available in Black and White, the Phone 2a is expected to reach various global markets, including Japan, India, Europe, and potentially the United States.

Design and Display

Staying true to Nothing’s unique design philosophy, the Phone 2a will feature a distinctive circular camera module on the back. A departure from the extensive LED lights seen in its predecessors, the Phone 2a is anticipated to incorporate a more minimalist design, with only three LED lights on its back. The display is likely to maintain a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1084×2412 pixels resolution.

Rumored Specs

The device is rumored to be powered by a mid-range MediaTek processor, potentially the Dimensity 7200, offering 5G support, game optimizations and high battery efficiency. Camera specifications include a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP ultrawide camera on the back, with a 32MP front-facing camera. Storage options may include 128GB or 256GB with 8GB of RAM. Running on Android 14, the Phone 2a is expected to receive at least three major Android updates and house a 5,000mAh battery supporting 45W charging.
